Open events: no guest list required

Not every event has a guest list. Conferences, community celebrations, festivals, and open houses often just need a door that anyone can walk through.

What is an open event?

An open event lets anyone who scans your QR code join. Instead of searching a pre-loaded list, guests enter their name once and they're in — checked in, counted, and able to use every feature you've enabled.

When to choose open vs. guest list

Choose an open event when:

You don't know exactly who's coming

Registration happens elsewhere (tickets, RSVPs on another platform)

You want zero friction at the door

Choose a guest list when:

You have assigned tables or seating

Attendance is invitation-only

You want to know exactly who has and hasn't arrived

Can I switch?

You pick open vs. guest list when creating the event, and can adjust it in event settings while the event is a draft.

Do open events support tables?

Table lookup is designed around a guest list, so open events focus on check-in, photos, and the guest book. If you need assigned seating, use a guest list event.
